Get Croppin' was formed in November of 2002, when Ashlie Ellison and Marirosa Anderson met at a local scrapbook store crop. They started talking and quickly realized how much they had in common. Both with similar family and educational backgrounds along with their love for scrapbooking and kids only 8 days apart they new they were bound to be best friends. One night while their kids were playing, they began talking about their dreams and goals; they realized that a lot of them were the same. The subject came up of the lack of affordable scrapbooking events in this mid-Atlantic region and more importantly ... ways to meet others with similar interests. With Ashlie's background in business and design and Marirosa's background in marketing and event planning Get Croppin' was born.
Together, Ashlie and Marirosa have created many single day and weekend scrapbooking retreats, with their main focus on the scrappers' experience. Their ultimate goal, for scrappers to come together to share in this hobby (and addiction!), have fun, and meet new friends. During a typical event you can find Marirosa and Ashlie walking around making sure everyone is having a great time and more importantly meeting new friends! Get Croppin' crops feature an exclusive and unique table layout configurations, allowing everyone the opportunity to chat while spreading out their stuff and being comfortable. Our motto: Whether you come alone or with a group to our crops it won't matter because by the end … you'll have so many new cropping friends!
Get Croppin' stays close to home, throughout Virginia and Maryland to sponsor both single day and weekend retreats. Check out or schedule of events find out more!
As time has progressed, so has our business.
In September of 2004, Ashlie and Marirosa took Get Croppin' a step further and launched their own exclusive line of scrapbooking products. Get Croppin' Scrapbooking Products first line is Tag You're It! Monthly kits, which incorporate exclusive designs by Ashlie, not available anywhere else and delivered right to subscribers door every month. Our tag kits are not only affordable but allow the user to put the kits together themselves, adding their own additional elements or adapting them to their own scrapbooking style. Tag You're It! kits continue to grow in membership month to month ... and scrappers from all over the United States, Canada, and Europe now receiving these kits. Our product line continue to grow, with the addition of unique project kits, cool finds, and our sassy colander products.
In 2005, Get Croppin' increased our exceptional event entitled ScrapBowl themed around the SuperBowl with adding classes, given by "scrap'celebrity." In 2005, we invited Ali Edwards (Creating Keepsakes Creative Editor, Author, Creating Keepsakes University (CKU) Instructor and Life Artist). In 2006, we stepped it up a bit and invited Ali back plus added, Donna Downey (Creating Keepsakes University (CKU) Instructor, Author, Trends Editor for Simple Scrapbooks magazine, QVC Simple Scrapbooks Hostess), Danielle Johnson (Creator and Designer for Creative Imaginations, Art Warehouse product line, Creating Keepsakes University (CKU)instructor), and Margie Aslett-Romney (reating Keepsakes University (CKU) instructor, Making Memories Creative Designer and all around lover of Pink). In 2007, we've increased this fabulous event once more by inviting seven industry leading professional and increased the crop to 25,000 sqf. for a 3 day crop & class extravaganza! This event includes a return visit from both Donna and Margie, plus Shimelle Laine (straight from the UK, designer for ScrapBook Inspirations magazine, online class guru instructor), Kristina Contes (2007 Hall of Fame'r, Numberous Design team member, Author, and Effer Dare contributor), Tia Bennett (2Peas Garden Girl, Product designer for Autumn Leaves, 2 Peas Digital Kits, Fontwerks, and Purple Onion Stamps, and Author), and Emily Adams (Creative Keepsakes Instructor, Product Designer for Imagination Project, Marketing director for Luxe Design), and Stacy Julian (founding editor of Simple Scrapbooks magazine, Author, founder and co-founder of Big Picture Scrapbooking, and CKU Instructor.)
Throughout all of this business growth, Ashlie and Marirosa have continued to stay focused on growing their business together while maintaining their friendship as a priority, which is reflected in the company that they've created. It's not uncommon to find both these gals shopping around at their local scrapbook stores, and where one is, the other is not far away.
